Gary V. inalala kung paano nakaya ang dalawang operasyon

Sayang, this year sana ang 40th anniversary concert ni Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano. Yup, apat na dekada na siya sa show business. Naghakot na siya ng iba’t ibang awards, nakagawa ng maraming pelikula, nagkaroon ng countless concerts all over the world, released 39 best-selling album at nakapagpalaki ng tatlong anak habang may Type 1 diabetes, katuwang ang misis na si Angeli, na hindi ordinaryong sakit, since his teens.

Hindi na nga stranger si Gary sa health issues na mas pinag-iingat ngayong may coronavirus pandemic.

“I learned to take care of myself as my mom was in the USA. When I married Angeli, she studied diabetes and its potential complications so she, in some way, became my nurse.”

Last April of 2018, habang nagpe-perform sila ng anak niyang si Gabriel sa ASAP, nakaramdam siya ng matinding pananakit ng dibdib. “I hugged him after the number and while people were clapping and cheering for us, I turned to him and told him to pray for me because I wasn’t feeling well. He didn’t know how bad it was but it was really bad because I think anytime I express that to anyone it means I am really not doing well,” pag-alala ni Gary sa isang interview.

Pagkatapos niyang sumailalim sa angiogram, na-diskubre nila ang 95% blockage sa kanyang left artery at kailangan agad-agad na sumailalim siya sa cardiac bypass surgery.

At habang nakakaramdam pa ng sakit sa operasyon sa puso, nalaman din nilang may cancer siya sa kidney.

“With my heart, I already knew something was wrong. With the cancer, it allowed me to position myself and simply put my life in the hands of God because it was at that point in our lives where we found security and safety.”

Na extremely difficult and painful for his family, tulad sa nararamdaman niya, but prayers and the constant support from each other became their anchor.

At doon nila nadiskubre ang mahal ng gastos sa pagpapa-hospital. “Angeli knows many times, when it comes to financial planning, I’m always just trusting God for it, but there are tools He has given us in order to live productively.
