“I hate this year. I really, really hate this year,” ang kasunod nung shout out na lalong nagpa-ingay more than a week ago.

Kahapon ay sunud-sunod ang tweet ni Ms. Lea.

“Hi, gang. It seems a recent Facebook post of mine has gotten quite a bit of attention and launched all sorts of... I don’t even know what word to use, so I thought to use this platform and this space to offer some clarification in the hope that I’m more clearly understood,” unang tweet niya.

“Regarding the post itself, yes I stand by every single word I wrote as an expression of my frustration with certain events currently taking place in our country. However, contrary to what some of you might believe, I never, NOT EVER, cursed the Philippines.

“To serve her is one of my greatest honors. To be able to hold my head up high and say, “Yes, I am Filipino” representing the hundreds of millions of brethren both here at home and all over the world is a source of pride and pleasure,” depensa niya sa sarili.

“So, to further clarify, I didn’t say p- i- mo, or p- i- ka. If that was what I meant, I would’ve been explicit in my expression. My p- i- was aimed at no one in particular, and was used only as an outburst, a cry. My apologies if I hurt your feelings with my choice of words,” ang buong post niya.

Maraming sumuporta kay Lea sa nasabing FB post kahit walang particular na pinatutungkulan although that day ay hinatulan ng guilty verdict si Maria Ressa for cyber libel ng Manila Trial Court at maraming netizens ang umalma sa nangyari. Doon nga ikinonek ang nasabing shout out ni Ms. Lea dahil may sinagot siyang comment ng “Here’s my problem... I don’t possess a lot of trust in the things I see and read, even if and when the sources are supposed to be those in which we should be able to have unquestionable trust. Second, I house a conspiracy theorist in my head, one that I do try to quell in order to stay focused on the long game. Third, there is always a sense of fear that if anyone pisses off the wrong guy, one can get shot in broad daylight.”

Meron pa siyang isang reply na : “Criticism of one’s government shouldn’t be considered an expression of hatred, but one of love and a desire to see the country succeed. I would like to think that in a functioning democracy, this should never be anyone’s fear, that their criticism would land them in jail, or worse, a corpse lying on a curb.”

Hanggang nag-trending pa ang hashtag na IstandWithLeaSalonga last week.

Anyway, umani nang libu-libong retweets kahapon ang nasabing paliwanag ni Lea.
