“Attitude is so important. I have already experienced a lot of actors nga grabe ka "attitude" in which dili jud unta angayan mahitabo,” niya pa.
“We have to be professional. Siyempre mo-respect sa tanang tawo, from the lead actors to the utility helpers and kana pud grounded imo feet o humbleness. If maayo imo attitude ug dealings with other people, for sure dili ka mahutdan og mga film offers,” dugang pa niya.
Q and A
Banat News Hugyaw: Giunsa nimo pagsulod sa industriya?
Ligaya: Nagsugod siya niadtong 2008 when a film student from the International Academy of Film & Television was looking for an actress for his thesis film requirement, mao tu ang akong first venture in film. My orientation is theater. I’m a stage actress and director trained by the Philippines Educational Theater Association( PETA ) and from the Cultural Center of the Philippines ( CCP ), then from referrals of friends, filmmakers saw my films.
I study my script ug internalize my role . Mo-focus jud ko, interact with my director, co -actors and the whole production staff! Most of all I practice professionalism at all times.
Ligaya: I always look up to our local actors kay mas maka relate ko. I do admire Ms.Nora Aunor for her natural acting.
BNH: Unsa ang imong gikalingawan karon samtang naka-ECQ?
Ligaya: Watching films and stage plays online . Gardening, reading and memorizing my script for an upcoming Cebuano stageplay nga "Melchizedek" with Ms.Suzette Ranillo, Bayang Barrios, Mayen Angbetic Tan and other local actors under the directorship of Monsignor Agustin Ancajas nga mao usab ang writer. I’m also preparing for three film projects and one of these is a period film on the life of General Santos to be filmed in Gensan.
Ligaya: Kung unsa ako naabot karon as a film actress, akong dakong credit sa akong pagka -theater actress. Be true to yourself, be humble, never cease or stop learning and experiencing. Be open- minded for criticisms and take these as lessons for improvement...respect your co-worker. Do justice to the role/character you are portraying
BNH: Unsa imong estilo nga dali raka maka umol og emosyon sa gidala nimo nga karakter?
Ligaya: Permi nako i- apply what I have learned in theater, the Method acting by Stanislavski and the 3 Dimensional Characterization and most importantly the raw experiences in life. My own real life experiences ug other people's experiences. Mao na never stop knowing, learning, living, reaching out to people kay grabe kini mohatag nimo og great opportunities. Meaning, inspiration sa imong portrayal sa imong character, always remember, there are no small roles, only small actors.
Ligaya: Ang COVID- 19 pandemic adunay gyu’y enormous impact in our film industry not only in our country but all over the world. The sad plight brought closure to movie theaters, na -cancel or na -postponed ang mga film festivals, mga shoots ug nahunong gyud ang productions. Tungod sa unexpected events, so many lost their jobs in the industry, the actors, the production crew, audio- visual technicians and the rest who are in it. In spite of the closure naa pud free streaming online which could keep people to stay home. Our government through the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and other arts agencies are giving support assistance to thousands of workers who have lost their jobs in the film industry. Creative ways are also initiated para dili masayang ang oras...through online workshops screenwriting, production management para puhon kung mabalik na ta sa new normal, makabalik na sa trabaho tanan and more people can work in the industry. As of the moment, in my case I’m crossing my fingers and praying nga madayon akong film projects especially ang Heneral Santos nga I will be working again with a great actor who portrayed the role of Heneral Aguinaldo...he he he( from the movies Heneral Luna & Ang Batang Goyo ).
