“Napakahirap ng sitwasyong ito kasi by this time parang a lot of people have formed their own opinions. And I realize na kung ano pong sasabihin ko may entail a lot of major consequences. And kaya pinag-usapan namin ni Aga we will allow it to follow its due process. Pero having said that, what I can say is that sobra akong nagpapasalamat talaga sa naging experience namin ni Aga.

“What we’ve been through just made me love Aga even more. Because talagang if I loved him a million times now I love him one hundred million more times because of what he did and what he went through. He fought for what he believed in and from the very beginning maraming nagsasabi sa kanya na naging tutol sa desisyon niya na pumasok sa panibagong larangan. But it was his desire, his interest, ang kanyang hangarin that kept him going and really gave him the strength to push through with this endeavor,” emosyonal na pahayag ni Charlene.

“We all know, in the past year there have been many times to discredit Aga and I, and I feel, you know from taking away from us our right to vote, to the residency, hanggang sa citizenship at kung anu-ano pa ’yung nangyari sa amin.

“It is a personal victory within itself that umabot po kami dito. Na lumabas ’yung pangalan ni Aga sa balota and during this whole process, I say I’m so much proud of Aga kasi he showed so much strength. Alam po niya ‘yung laban na ito ay ’di magiging madali para sa kanya but still he went through it against all odds. And I really just admire him even more today because ‘yung laban ni Aga, there was a point in time, this whole thing wasn’t about Aga anymore. But it was really the fight for the people. And through this process, we’ve made many friends, a lot of friendships and a lot of people supported us all the way,” paliwanag ni Charlene.

“One thing I have learned that I say ‘til today is that I’ve learned to speak up. I learned to have my voice. And I have learned and gained the strength and courage to say it’s okay na ipaglaban n’yo po ang inyong karapatan. That’s one of the major lessons I’ve learned here.

“Another one, we never really know what happens in our life. There are obstacles thrown our way but we really don’t have the answers. I may not know why ganito po ang nangyari sa amin ngayon but I know one day I’ll be able to look back and say, ‘Ay kaya pala.’ There’s so much I want to say but I am limited to the legal parameters that come with this situation,” giit ng aktres.

Through something like this you realize you can make a difference in someone’s life. But you just have to take the risk and I don’t regret any moment of it,” naluluhang pagtatapos ni Charlene.

Reports from JAMES C. CANTOS
