Juday at Ryan sa TV5 mangungumpisal ng kasal

Ryan Agoncillo turns a year older and wiser this April 18, and he has two good reasons to celebrate it.

Una, sa petsa na ‘yon ipalalabas ang birthday episode ng kanyang hino-host na programa on TV5, ang Talentadong Pinoy, one of the network’s original concept shows that has inched its way to the top 10 in the overall ratings survey.

Sa katunayan, nakikipagbuno ang TP (by the way, is the program title Joey de Leon’s brainchild?) head-to-head in the double-digit ratings game against ABS-CBN’s and GMA’s Saturday primetime shows. So does this go without saying na winasak na ng TV5 ang tinatawag na dou-play na confined lang sa dalawang higanteng istasyon?

With TP gaining more popularity and higher viewership, Saturday night TV has become a three-cornered fight.

At sa pangalawang dahilan kung bakit kailangang ipagdiwang ni Ryan ang kanyang kaarawan, no less than his bride-to-be na si Judy Ann Santos ang kanyang special guest sa kanyang birthday episode. In the name of ratings, dun na nga ba inaanunsyo ng magdyowa ang kanilang altar date?

Inevitably in life, there is always a reversal of date.

When then-ABC 5 though the local broadcast rights of Family Feud many years ago, si Ogie Alcasid ang napisil nilang mag-host. When it was GMA’s turn to bring back the show, pinalad naman si Richard Gomez na mag-host who had to audition for the part.

In a few weeks, muli namang mapapanood sa TV5 ang pagbabalik ng Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? which one was hosted by Christopher de Leon, and guess kung sino ang host rito? Officially, it’s Vic Sotto.

Kung timing ang pag-uusapan, TV5 stands to gain more out of this returning game of a skill dahil na rin sa Oscars best picture na Slumdog Millionaire inspired by it.

No to TV or movie offers yet for Fil-Am actress Jelynn Rodriguez, ang latest find ng kaibigang Jobert Sucaldito who flew in weeks back to promote her 29-minute web series, ang Acts of Love & Sex. Nais lang daw ibida ni Jelynn that finally a Filipino actor has penetrated Hollywood.

Sa nasabing serye that anybody can download, mismong si Jelynn ang nakikiusap daw sa kanyang producer na gawin namang Pinay ang kanyang papel who’s carrying on a relationship with a foreigner set against the backdrop of the Obama administration.

Gaya ng obeservation ni Tito Ricky Lo, Jelynn is without airs despite her accomplishments which are, in fact too many para maipagmalaki natin siya, as the first Pinay nga ba ever to have stolen the Hollywood thunder?
