If you won’t see enough of Alfred Vargas in the coming months, that means he has his hands full with yet another career path he’s determine to tread: Politics.

Sa simpleng salu-salong ipinatawag ng grupo sa Club Filipino last Thursday, ang organizer nitong si Lolit Solis ay tila isinusuko na ang kanyang alaga sa bagong larangan nitong papasukin.

“Naku, ayan na nga ba, ’pag pumasok na sa politics, siyempre, lost na rin ang komisyon ko,” nakaismid pero pabirong sey ng manager ni Alfred.

The very day it came out (February 12, Thursday), nakatanggap ako ng text message from a GMA 7 co-writer inquiring if I am one of the two showbiz reporters na idedemanda raw ni John Lapus ng libel as published in Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP.

How was I supposed to know? Wala akong access sa mga ganyang hi-tech chorva na ’yan, myself still a slave to old school gadgets like this manual typewriter I’m using. Sa presscon ni Cong. Susano that day, the same question was ‘posed’ by colleague Allan Diones. Having arrived home, Startalk researcher Oswald Go had the same inquiry, so ipinasabay ko nang ipa-fax sa kanya ang naturang PEP item titled John “Sweet” Lapus to file libel charges against two showbiz reporters.

For the most part of the article ay quoted si John sans any mention of the two scribes. Using my little connections, however, I was led to the discovery of their identities bearing the same initials pa, ha?

Sa artikulong ’yon inilatag ni John ang kanyang mga sentimyento which I believed had better found their way into the thick pages of his forthcoming complaint affidavit. But I will not take John’s right to sue anybody away from him, it’s everybody else’s right anyway.

Neither am I provoking him to invoke his right to sue me. My advice? May John find enlightenment through history. Let the sinless cast the first stone.
