GMA 7’s Corpcomm never fails to pull a string of surprises everytime it launches the network’s next project. GMA Films, the station’s film arm, does the same.
Sa imbitasyon ng film outfit for tomorrow night’s presscon of Italy (I Trust And Love You), kinailangang kunin ng CorpComm ang mga pangalan ng magsisidalong members of the press para sa manifesto as they will ride aboard the 7107 Island Cruise to go around Manila Bay.
Siguro, sa isip-isip ng GMA Films, this is the closest it can get to the Italian experience. Still, the idea is expensive, if not one for the books.
Hindi ko ma-imagine kung paanong tatalbugan ng next GMA (mapa-TV o mapa-pelikula) project ang cruise na ito. Will the next presscon be aboard a plane on its way somewhere?

While this is yet another noble act (bukod sa tatlong milyong pisong donasyon ni Pacman sa mga typhoon Frank victims sa Kabisayaan), Manny seems to have miscalculated the consequences of his intention. Aniya, hanggang P1 million lang daw ang kaya niyang ibigay, and should there be one or more gold medalists ay maghati-hati na lang sila sa premyo.
Hindi kaya while our RP team is bent on aspiring for the gold ay mas nanaisin na lang nito na isa hanggang dalawa lang ang makapag-uwi ng ginto? At the same time, kung hindi ba si Manny ang siyang mayhawak ng ating watawat, would he think of parting with that cash prize? Yet another question na hindi maunawaan ng ating mga kababayan, why give a one million-peso incentive to a Pinoy gold medalist, himself richer by hundreds of thousands? Tumulong din lang si Manny sa mga nasalanta ng bagyong Frank, his P1 million can somehow reach out to the poorest of the poor.
With a net worth that only God knows, maraming institusyon ang tila mas nangangailangan ng “barya-barya” mula sa mga napanalunan ni Manny. Kung tutuusin, baka nga mas daig pa niya si Will Smith ng Hollywood (who once played Muhammad Ali) whose net worth can make him last 10 lifetimes.
