Jon Avila: Anghel sa yuta

Guapo. Buotan. Humot. Sayon duolon. Diosnon Mapaubsanon.Matinud-anon. “I had a good time. I have no regrets. So when I came out, there were realizations and all. Reality hit. And then yun. It was the end of a good thing, so yun,” tubag pa niya. “Publicity for the “Your Song” episode. It was very professional on the set,” tumbok pa niya.

Jon: We’re close as [co-stars]. We have fun on the set. But that’s just how close we are. I don’t even have her cellphone number.

Unsay iyang ideal  girl?

Jon: Siyempre mabait, religious, God-fearing, someone who is understanding and mature with a sense of humor. Looks-wise, I like morena-looking girls.

On being prayerful…

Jon: Yeah that’s true, I go to church everyday. That was my upbringing. I was an altar boy for a few years, and then, I sort of lost touch with my religion. Then when I came here, I started to go to church more often and I realized the power of prayer. I’m Catholic, by the way. And I can say prayer is powerful with how my life has worked out. And I’m being true and honest to myself. Actually, if deep inside you’re a good person, it always gonna come out. That’s what happened.

On coming to Philippines…

Jon: I first came to the Philippines with my mom and dad.

First exposure…

Jon: Yes, my first exposure was winning the Century Tuna Superbod in 2006. But I changed my family name to Avila when I joined Star Magic. I was big, before I was 200 pounds, then I trimmed down to around 170 pounds to model. I trimmed down through boxing, and mostly diet.

Jon: I don’t know, I’m torpe. If I like a girl, I’m shy. I’m conservative. I let the girl know I like her through body language, like be extra friendly, extra flirty. So, I make it obvious that I like a girl.

Jon: I didn’t expect the high ratings of Kapitan Boom, I find it more as, not as a test, but as an experience to strengthen myself and my craft as an actor. Pero the show is maganda pala. So it’s a blessing and an answered prayer talaga. I’ve always had a hidden ambition to be an actor or a singer. But as a rounded artist, up to know I can’t really say I’m a good dancer, singer. I didn’t expect to be an artist talaga, but in some way, I’ve always wanted to be a singer or actor.

Kumusta ang iyang Tagalog turorial?

Jon: My tutor ako. I’m really serious about this.

Unsay mahitabo human sa Kapitan Boom?

Jon: May continuation for Kapitan Boom. It’s going to be big.

Kinsay gusto niya nga makauban sa projects?

Jon: I’d like to work with Bea Alonzo, Kristine Hermosa, Maricel Soriano. Idol ko si Jericho Rosales and Piolo Pascual.

Unsay makapalagot niya?

Jon: Bullies. I don’t like or want to see people being bullied or being picked on or being spoken down to.

Unsay labing grabe nga pagsaway nga iyang nadawat?

Jon: That I was gay, but that’s standard. That I was a male prostitute and that when I’m not out taping, I hire my body to rich guys. P20,000 a night daw. It was funny.

Unsay iyang dream role?

Jon: Special agent. I want to be remembered in showbiz as a good role model. Yun lang. I don’t drink, I don’t go gimmick. I just drink coffee and well, smoke a little.

Kumusta ang iyang sex life?

Jon: What sex life?

Daghang Salamat Mr. Bong Miagan og Gaisano Metro.
