Tinawag na ill-timed o wala sa tiyempo ni Jennylyn Mercado ang sorpresang pag-aalok ng ina ni Patrick Garcia ng educational plan at insurance policy para sa isisilang nitong anak. The offer, which seemed to be a matter of life and death, was made the day after Patrick appeared on The Buzz (Feb. 17) gayong noong Valentine date nila ni Jen, it was, in fact, the actor’s idea that either of them should stop granting any more interviews.
What added insult to injury was Patrick’s statement on The Buzz that he was willing to take on the responsibility if no man stepped forward para sabihing siya ang ama ng dinadala ng nobya. Lumalaon, this is not helping Patrick ‘deodorize’ his image, at patuloy na bumabaho ang kanyang reputasyon.
Tinanggap na ni Jen that her boyfriend reneged on his promise, pero hayun siya sa The Buzz bending the rule he himself decreed. And as if to undo their son’s caper, kinabukasan ay tinext daw si Jen ni Mommy Bing, who needed her presence very badly. Pinapipirma daw kasi si Jen sa mga papeles as an acknowledgment na tinanggap niya ang educational plan at insurance policy.
Realizing her fragile condition, however, kinailangan daw ni Jen na magpasama sa kanyang manager. At the meeting, Jen was sandwiched by two hotheads. Of the two pre-need plans, ‘yung educational lang ang tinanggap ni Jen, but she stressed with full conviction na hindi financial support mula kay Patrick ang hinihingi niya, but rather her boyfriend’s emotional help.
But what was more telling in Jen’s interview was her quiet resignation from all this. Sa ginagawa raw ni Patrick, ito na rin ang nagbuyo sa kanya to finally put her foot down (after spreading her legs). Buo na ang loob ni Jen that it’s time to let go.
“Gusto ko nang sumaya. I want to move on” were the words of Jen. If only for her firm resolve (wish ko lang, totoo), napalampas ko na ang kasabu-sabunot na kagagahan at kaplastikan ni Jen noon. Indeed, now is the time to get her sane mind back.
And how? Focus on the baby more than pursuing Patrick. I-relegate na ni Jen ang aniya’y iresponsableng ama ng kanyang baby to the annals of her romantic history.
It’s about time she opened a new chapter in her life. And I can’t wait to read every happy page of it.
