A Muslim-dominated community in Taguig is composed of avid and rabid viewers of GMA 7: Patok na patok doon ang mga teleserye on its primetime slot except for news programs 24 Oras and Saksi. And why?
Recently, I met a Muslim brother named Asis (any relation to you, Salve dear?), a physical therapist in a government hospital with two wives, but he has a more important information than his bio-data.
Kilalang on-cam field reporter ng GMA si Marisol Abduraman who does her job with so much flair, no doubt. Ang kaso, everytime Asis and his Muslim brothers see her on TV, agad nilang inililipat ang channel. Ang dahilan: Marisol, to think that she embraces the Muslim faith, violates their law on proper dressing.
Sey ni Asis: “She (Marisol) has to wear her hijab (’yung nakataklob na tela sa ulo) even if she’s delivering her news reports. The only time that I saw her wear it was when Ramadan ended, before and after, hindi siya nagsusuot nu’n. Kaya pag nakikita namin siyang nagre-report sa TV, we switch to Channel 2.”
