MANILA, Philippines -- Tinakasan nina D’Artagnan Potts at Jack Pearse ang mga kababayang sina Mark Nicolaidis at Izac Carracher, 21-19, 21-19, sa all-Australian title showdown para pagharian ang Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships kahapon sa Nuvali Sand Courts sa City of Santa Rosa.
Tinapos ng 21-anyos na si Potts at ng 22-anyos na si Pearse ang tambalan nina Nicolaidis at Carracher, naglaro sa Paris Olympics, sa loob ng 40 minuto.
“Our team connection was really good,” ani Pearse. “They’re a really great team and to beat them shows the potential that we have as a team.”
Inamin ni Potts na nahirapan sila ni Pearse sa five-day tournament na nagtampok sa mga top Asian Volleyball Confederation at FIVB-rated teams mula sa 14 bansa.
“Jack and I just kept building from the first match, kept building and building, even when the games weren’t going as planned,” wika ni Potts.
Isa sa mga tinalo nina Potts at Pearse ay sina Pinoy spikers Lerry John Francisco at Rancel Varga via straight sets sa preliminaries.
Tumapos sina Abbas Pourasgari at Alireza Aghajanighasab ng Iran, ang men’s Nuvali Open champion noong Abril, sa third place nang talunin sina Chinese Wu Jiaxin at Ha Likejiang, 21-15, 21-17, sa event na inorganisa ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation at Asian Volleyball Confederation na kapwa pinamumunuan ni Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
Sa women’s division, pumuwesto sa third place sina AVC Beach Tour Nuvali Open champions Jana Milutinovic at Stefanie Fejes ng Australia matapos ang 21-15, 21-19 pagdaig kina Japanese Asami Shiba at Saki Maruyama sa torneong suportado ng Nuvali, Ayala Land, Rebisco, Smart, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, City of Santa Rosa, Mikasa, Senoh, Asics, Akari, Sip, Cignal, One Sports, One Sports Plus at Pilipinas Live.
