MANILA, Philippines —  Tumibay ang kapit ng University of the East sa No. 3 spot sa team stan­dings matapos nilang kaldagin ang National University, 74-58 sa UAAP Season 87 collegiate men’s basketball tournament na nilaro sa SM Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City  kahapon.

Nagtulungan sa opensa sina Precious Momowei at Wello Lingolingo upang akbayan ang Red Warriors sa pang-anim na panalo  sa siyam na laro at lumakas ang asam na korona nga­yong season.

Tumikada si Momowei ng 17 points, 17 rebounds, tatlong assists at tig-isang steal at block habang kumana si Lingolingo ng 14 markers, limang boards para makabangon agad mula sa pagkakadapa kontra defending champions De La Salle University,  68-77 noong Oktubre 12.

“I think the loss against La Salle was the motivation that we needed,” ani Momowei. “Because I think we deserve to win. So, we lose some, we win some. Today’s game, we know what we are up against. It’s NU. They have a great team and all that. We just stick as a team.”

Nag-ambag din sa opensa si Ethan Galang na nilista ang 12 points at apat na rebounds para sa Red Warriors na nagkaroon ng dalawang linggong pahinga matapos ang laban nila kontra sa Far Eastern University noong Linggo at University of the Philippines noong Miyerkules na sinundan ng pagkansela ng mga nakatakdang laro dahil sa bagyong ‘Kristine.

Nais ng recto-based squad na sikwatin ang back-to-back wins sa darating na Miyerkules sa pagharap nila laban sa Adamson University sa Mall of Asia Arena habang sunod na makakalaro ng NU Bulldogs ang Fighting Maroons sa Nobyembre 3 sa UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
