MANILA, Philippines — Pasado sa Asian fe­de­ration head para sa mixed martial arts (MMA) ang matagumpay na pamamahala ng Pilipinas sa Manila Open—ang inaugural Asian MMA championships na nagtapos noong Miyer­kules sa Mariott Manila sa Pasay City.

“Is it through your commitment that we’re able to deliver such a remarkable successful event,” ani Asian MMA Association (AMMA) president Gordon Tang kay Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa thanksgiving dinner para sa three-day event na nagtampok sa mga best amateur MMA fighters sa Asia.

“I would like to congratulate all the athletes, coaches, referees and hardworking staff as we are excited about the ongoing development of MMA in Asia and beyond,” dagdag ng vice president ng Olympic Council of Asia na nagpasalamat din sa 9 Dynasty Group para sa pamamahala sa event.

“We offer our heartfelt thanks to NMMAPP president Abraham Tolentino and secretary-general Alvin Aguilar and to the 9 Dynasty Group for the unwavering support,” sabi ni Tang na namumuno rin sa Cambodia sailing association.

Si Tolentino ang nama­mahala sa Nasyonal MMA Pederasyon ng Pilipinas (NMMAPP) na may moniker na Pilipinas MMA, ang governing body para sa a­mateur MMA sport sa bansa.

Hinirang ang Tajikistan bilang inaugural overall champion ng Asian championships sa nahakot na apat na gold at dalawang silver medals kasunod ang Kazakhstan (3-2-1) at China (2-1-0).
