MANILA, Philippines — Idaraos ang International Canoe Federation (ICF) World Dragon Boat Championships mula Oktubre 27 hanggang Nobyembre 4 sa Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Kasabay nito ang centennial anniversary ng ICF kaya’t doble ang selebrasyon para rito.
“As the president of the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation, it is both an honor and a humbling responsibility to host the ICF World Dragon Boat Championships in Puerto Princesa, especially as we celebrate the International Canoe Federation’s centennial anniversary,” ani PCKDF president Leonora Escollante.
Nais ni Escollante na maging matagumpay ang pagdaraos ng torneo lalo pa’t dadaluhan ito ng mga foreign paddlers mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.
“This milestone not only celebrates the sport’s rich legacy but also propels us into a future where dragon boat racing continues to inspire, unite, and drive positive change,” ani Escollante.
Nagpasalamat si Escollante sa Puerto Princesa City government sa pangunguna ni Mayor Lucilo Bayron sa solidong suporta nito.
“I must extend my dee-pest gratitude to the City of Puerto Princesa and, in particular, Mayor Lucilo Bayron, for their unwavering support and belief in this sport and in the vision of the PCKF. Mayor Bayron and his administration have been fully committed from Day One, offering 100 percent backing in terms of logistics, resources, and facilities,” ani Escollante.
Kumpirmado na ang pagdating ng halos 2,000 paddlers mula sa 20 bansa para sa torneong magsisilbing qualifying tournament para sa World Games na gaganapin naman sa Agosto 17-25 sa Chengdu, China sa 2025.
