Scottie nasa 80-90 precent pa lang — Cone

MANILA, Philippines — Ingat na ingat pa rin ang coaching staff ng Barangay Ginebra sa training ni Season 47 Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson na kagagaling lamang sa injury.

Kaya naman ayaw ni Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone na bugbugin pa sa ensayo si Thompson upang hindi ito mabigla.

Hindi makitaan na galing sa injury si Thompson matapos maglatag ng impresibong 21 points, 10 rebounds at 11 assists sa panalo ng Barangay GInebra sa Blackwater Bossing.

Ngunit nilinaw ni Cone na wala pa sa perpektong kundisyon si Thompson.

Nasa 80 hanggang 90 porsiyento pa lamang ito.

“I thinks Scottie’s in my opinion, he’s playing about 80-90 percent right now. He’s not fully 100 percent. We have to be careful with him in practice,” ani Cone.

Matatandaang nagpahinga si Thompson matapos magtamo ng back injury.

“We have to make sure we don’t wear him out and let his back flare up again. We kind of handle him with kid glove, if you call 39 minutes kid glove. We’re trying our best but he’s just too important on what we do and how we do it,” ani Cone.

Masaya si Thompson na nakabalik na ito sa paglalaro.

Nakakuha rin ito ng soidong suporta mula sa coaching staff at mga teammates nito gayundin sa mga therapists na nangangalaga sa kanyang kundisyon.

“Slowly getting back, that’s all I wanted this conference, to really be healthy. As for my performance, I know that will come, but the key for now is for me to be healthy this whole conference,” ani Thompson.
