Groseclose minalas sa 1,500 meter event
GANGWON, South Korea — Tumapos sa fifth place si Peter Groseclose sa qualification race ng men’s 1,500-meter short track ng speed skating event sa Fourth Winter Olympic Games dito kahapon.
Nagsumite ang 16-anyos na si Groseclose ng dalawang minuto at 20.575 segundo sa heat na dinomina ni Lowie Dekens (2:18.473) ng Germany kasunod sina Jaehee Joo (2:21.906) ng South Korea, Xinzhe Zhang (2:22.095) ng China at Yousung Kim (2:22.148) ng South Korea.
“It’s a disappointing result but we’re going to keep looking forward until the next race,” ani coach John-Henry Krueger sa Pinoy speed skater. “Peter is still motivated although he is not happy with the result.”
Samantala, nagsimula nang mag-ensayo si freestyle skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe, ang tumayong flag bearer ng Pinas sa opening ceremony, sa Welli Hilli Park para sa women’s slopestyle at big air events.
Nakatakda ang kanyang mga events sa Enero 24 at 28. Darating naman si Avery Balbanida sa Enero 25 para sumali sa cross country skiing events sa Enero 29 at 30.
