UAAP Season 86 yearender

MANILA, Philippines — Isa ang De La Salle University sa mga title contenders bago pa man magsimula ang UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.

Ipinakita ito ng Green Archers nang walisin ang second round para maging No. 2 seed sa Final Four kung saan nila sinibak ang No. 3 National University Bulldogs.

Pinatalsik naman ng No. 1 team University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons ang karibal na Ateneo Blue Eagles sa kanilang sariling semifinal duel papasok sa best-of-three championship series.

Inangkin ng UP ang Game One, habang inagaw ng La Salle ang Game Two at Three para kunin ang UAAP championship.

“We know what championship basketball is all about. We know what it takes. We just have to really be prepared for that and make preparations for it,” sabi ni first time head coach Topex Robinson na nakasama sina Franz Pumaren, Juno Sauler at Aldin Ayo bilang mga coaches na nagkampeon sa una nilang taon sa koponan.

“Mindset lang na leave it all on the court dahil wala na ngang bukas Game Three na ito win or go home na,” sabi ng 6-foot-7 big man.

“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam na kahit maraming nagdoubt sa amin noong first round, ito na kami champion,” dagdag nito.
