“Putting training centers in various parts of the country is very important in an effort to develop world class athletes strong to give honors to the country in various international competitions,” wika ni Keon sa isang press conference sa Philsports Arena kung saan inilalaro ang 2023 Philippine National Games.
Pinahalagahan din ni Keon ang tambalan ng Philippine Olympic Committee at Philippine Sports Commission.
“POC and PSC should work hand and hand and consolidate their efforts for the good of the sports,” ani Keon. “In the past, Philippine used to dominate the Southeast Asian Games. Now, Thailand and Vietnam dominated the SEA Games. It’s quite frustrating and disappointing to see the country fell behind to our SEA Games neighbors.”
Kabilang sa mga naging produkto ng Gintong Alay ni Keon ay sina Lydia de Vega, Elma Muros, Isidro del Prado, Renato Unso, Hector Begeo, Julio Bayaban, Dario Sarosas at Erlinda Lavandia.
“Gone are the days when these athletes I trained and developed used to dominate their turfs to the envy of their foreign peers,” sabi pa ni Keon.
Kamakailan ay kinausap siya ni PSC chairman Richard Bachmann.
“Chairman Bachmann visited me in my office. We discussed intensively and animatedly about sports. He seeks my advice,” wika ni Keon.
