Philippine junior swimmers lumangoy ng 16 medalya sa SEA Age meet
Ang mga junior swimmers ng Philippines na wagi ng 18 medalya tampok ang 2 ginto nina Jennuel Booh De Leon at Arabella Nadeen Taguinota sa 45th SEA Age Group Championships sa Jakarta, Indonesia.

MANILA, Philippines – Lumangoy ang 18-man Philippine swimming team ng kabuuang 16 medalya tampok ang dalawang ginto sa katatapos na 45th Southeast Age Group Championship sa Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ang dalawang gold medal ay nagmula sa mga panalo nina Jennuel Booh De Leon at Arabella Nadeen Taguinota, habang umagaw ng eksena si diver Joseph Reynado na nagdagdag ng bronze sa boys’ platform event (16-18).

“President Miko (Vargas), myself, and the entire Board of Trustees of Philippine Aquatics, Inc. are very happy about the achievements of our team that competed in the 45th SEA Age Group in Jakarta,” ani PAI secretary-general Batangas 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain.

Kinolekta ng 15-anyos na si De Leon ang ginto sa boys’ 16-18 class 50-meter butterfly sa kanyang 25.40 segundo kasunod sina Malaysian Bernie Elle Yang Lee (25.49) at Thanaseat Thanonthisitsakul ng Thailand (25.72).

Bumandera naman ang 14-anyos na si Taguinota sa girls’ 14-15 100-meter breaststroke sa tiyempong 1:13.40 laban kina Vietnamese Thuy Hien Nguyen (1:14.07) at Thai Natthakita Leekitchakorn 1:14.50).

Ang gold medalist sa nakalipas na taon sa 13-under class na si Jamesray Ajido ay humirit ng tatlong silver sa boys 14-15 category 50-meter butterfly (25.93), 100-meter butterfly (57.12) at 100-meter backstroke (1:00.68).

Ang ikaapat na silver ay nagmula kay Estifano Ramos sa naitalang 2:10.39 sa boys 16-18 200-meter backstroke.

“It was a success despite sending a small contingent. Most of the swimmers got their personal best. We were solid and everybody was in high spirits,” wika ni head coach Ramil Ilustre.

Nagdagdag din si De Leon ng bronze sa 50-meter freestyle (24.35) habang kumubra ng tatlong bronze si Aishel Evangelista sa boys 13-under 200-meter free (2:05.12), 200-meter Individual Medley (2:19.83) at 400-meter IM (4: 56.01).

Ang iba pang bronze medalists ay sina Clark Ken Apuada sa boys 14-15 50m freestyle (24.64); Jalil Taguinod sa boys 16-18 50m breaststroke (29.99); Ivo Enot sa 100m backstroke (59.21); Peter Cyrus Dean sa 50m backstroke (27.38) at Mishka Sy sa girls 16-18 200m IM (2:23.29).

“Maganda iyong overall performance natin at talagang napatunayan natin na may magandang resulta kapag ipinadala mo iyong talagang deserving athletes. Halos lahat nakapasok sa finals ng kanilang mga events,” ani head of delegation at PAI Executive Director Chito Rivera.
