Tyang Aby goodbye na sa Philippine team
Inihayag ni Aby Maraño sa kanyang social media ang pagreretiro nito sa national team.

MANILA, Philippines — Tuluyan nang lilisanin ni middle blocker Aby Maraño ang Philippine women’s national volleyball team.

Mismong si Maraño ang nagkumpirma na nagretiro na ito sa national team kaya’t hindi na ito masisilayan suot ang PH squad jersey sa mga international tournaments.

Inihayag ni Maraño ang kanyang desisyon sa kanyang social media account.

Nais ni Maraño na pagtuunan ng pansin ang kanyang professional career sa F2 Logistics na naglalaro sa Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

“Nagwakas na ang serbisyo sa bayan, dito naman (sa PVL), dito na lang, dito na palagi. Maraming salamat (My service for the country has ended. It’s time to focus here (in the PVL), only and will always be here,” ani Maraño.

Binigyang-diin din ni Maraño na dapat nang ibigay ang pagkakataong maging miyembro ng national team sa mga mas batang players.

“Whether or not I’m in the national team, Tyang is Tyang. No one else can take that away from me. I worked so hard to be the Tyang Aby of Philippine Volleyball. I dedicated myself to the sport and my heart for the nation and I sacrificed my personal desires for the past seven years to commit myself to the national team,” ani Maraño.

Nagpasalamat si Maraño sa mga players na nakasama nito sa natonal team gayundin sa mga coaches at opisyales ng volleyball association sa bansa.

Nagsimulang maging miyembro ng national team si Maraño noong 2015 Southeast Asian Games sa Singapore na nasundan noong 2017 Malaysia Games.

Naging team captain ito ng Pinay spikers noong 2018 Asian Games sa Jakarta, Indonesia gayundin sa 2019 at 2022 edisyon ng SEA Games.
