MANILA, Philippines — Tinapos ng Team Philippines-Killerwhale ang kam­panya nito bitbit ang limang medalya isang pilak at apat na tanso sa 2022 Hamilton Aquatics Short Course Swimming Championships na ginanap sa Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex sa Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Nanguna sa kampanya ng koponan si Master Charles Janda ng Centro Escolar Integrated School Malolos na sumiguro ng pilak na medalya sa boys’ 13-year division.

Pumangalawa si Janda sa 50m backstroke kung saan naitala nito ang 32.06 segundo para angkinin ang nag-iisang pilak ng Pilipinas sa torneo.

Maningning din si David Gillego ng Holy Trinity School of Padre Garcia na kumana ng dalawang pilak na medalya sa boys’ 12-year category.

Nakahirit ng tanso si Gillego sa 50m backstroke sa bendisyon ng naitala nitong 38.11 segundo habang pumangatlo rin ito sa 50m butterfly sa bilis na 34.35 segundo.

Humirit din ng tig-isang tansong medalya sina St. Joseph College of Novaliches standouts Andrae Samontanes at Louis Lim sa kani-kanyang events.

Pumangatlo si Samontanes sa boys’ 13-year 200m butterfly (2:35.15) habang nakasiguro ng tanso si Lim sa boys’ 12-year 100m breaststroke (1:37.71). (Chris Co)

“It was a great campaign for us, winning five medals against some of the region’s best junior swimmers. A lot of elite junior swimmers showed up in the competition and winning medal against them is such an achievement for us,” ani delegation head Marilet Basa.

Kasama sa delegasyon si Immaculate Heart of Mary College Parañaque standout Julia Ysabelle Basa gayundin sina Jarold Kesley Camique, Hannah Mikaela Lim, Kathryn Leigh Kier, Lyyld Wynn Robles at Patricia Celine De Chavez.

“We are exposing these young swimmers in a high-caliber competitions to improve their skills and learn from this experience. We will continue this program for them,” dagdag ni Basa.
