MANILA, Philippines — Ngayon ay magkakaroon na ng tunay na tahanan ang mga national athletes.
Tinawag ni Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero ang itatayong state-of-the-art Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) bilang official home ng mga atleta.
“Being one of the authors of the law that creates the establishment of a mo-dern sports complex, I am honored that our athletes will soon have a place where they can further polish their talents,” ani Romero. “It will be their future home away from home.”
Noong nakaraang linggo ay tinanggap ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez ang deed of donation mula kay Bataan Gov. Albert Raymond “Abet” Garcia.
Itatayo sa nasabing 250,000 square meters na lupain sa Bagac, Bataan ang PSTC na gagastusan ng halos P3.5 bilyon.
Ang naturang training center ang magiging tahanan ng mga atleta ng archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, bowling, taekwondo, karate, judo, wrestling, cycling (velodrome), dance sport, football, gymnastics, handball, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, shooting, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, wall climbing water polo at weightlifting.
Tiniyak din ni Romero ang suporta ng mga Kongresista para sa pagbibi-gay ng sapat na pondo sa sports commission.
