Bautista swak sa 2nd round ng Thailand Open

MANILA, Philippines — Pasok sa second round si Ian Clark Bautista, ngunit tatlong miyembro ng natio­nal team ang agad na na­si­bak sa 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Championship sa Bangkok, Thailand.

Umiskor si Bautista ng unanimous decision win kontra kay Muhamad Hafiz Ahamag ng Singapore sa first round ng men’s ban­tam­weight (56 kg.) class.

Kapwa may 30-26 iskor ang mga hurado mula sa Turkmenistan, Belarus at Kuwait, habang may ibi­nigay na 20-25 ang Thai judge at 30-24 naman ang Indian judge para kay Bautista.

Aarangkada si Bautista sa second round laban kay Jack Denahy ng Australia na nakahirit ng opening round bye sa torneong may nakalaang $1,500 para sa magkakampeon.

Bigo namang umusad si­na Jeorge Rey Edusma (men’s lightweight, 60 kg.), Su­gar Rey Ocana (men’s light welterweight, 64 kg.) at Irish Magno (women’s flyweight, 51 kg.) na yumuko sa kani-kanilang dibisyon via unanimous decision.

Natalo si Edusma laban kay Khunatip Pidnuch ng Thailand (24-30, 24-30, 26-29, 25-30, 27-29), habang hindi pinalad si Ocana kay Atichai Phoemsap ng Thailand (28-29, 28-29, 28-29, 25-30, 27-30) at tumupi si Mag­no kay Nguyen Thi Tam ng Vietnam (27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 27-30, 28-29).

Sa kabila nito, buhay na buhay pa ang pag-asa ng Pinoy squad dahil nariyan pa sina Marvin Tabamo (men’s flyweight, 52 kg.), Mar­jon Pianar (men’s welterweight, 69 kg.), 2014 World Championship silver medalist Nesthy Petecio (women’s featherweight, 57 kg.), Carlo Paalam (men’s light flyweight, 46-49 kg.) at John Marvin (men’s light hea­vyweight, 81 kg.) na sa­­sabak sa kanilang mga ka­tegorya.
