DUBAI, UAE - Mula sa kanyang sinikwat na si­yam na gold medals, hinirang si Philippine Swimming League standout Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh bilang  Fe­male Most Bemedalled Swimmer sa pagsasara ng 2016 Hamilton Aquatics Winter Long Course Swimming Championship dito.

Ibinigay sa estudyante ng Immaculate Heart of Ma­ry College-Parañaque ang pa­rangal matapos wa­lisin ang lahat ng kanyang si­yam na events sa girls’ 10-year category.

“I prepared for this, I trained very hard and I’m so happy that I did it. I would like to thank my parents (Joan and Modj) for all their support and of course my coach, coach Susan Papa for helping me throughout this competition,” wika ni Moj­deh.

Sa Day One ay kaagad ku­muha si Modjeh ng li­mang gintong medalya mu­la sa kanyang mga pana­lo sa 50-meter freestyle (31.88), 200m butterfly (2:43.88), 200m freestyle (2:30.41), 100m butterfly (1:12.48) at 200m breaststroke (3:05.47).

 Dala ang determinas­yong makapagbigay ng ka­rangalan sa bansa, huma­taw si Mojdeh ng apat pang gintong medalya sa 100m freestyle (1:09.76), 200m Individual Medley (2:44.66), 50m butterfly (32.44) at 100m backstroke (1:22.40) sa Day Two.

Ayon kay Mojdeh, ka­i­langan pa niyang mapa­gan­da ang kanyang oras sa mga events na sinasa­lihan.

“I need to improve more for future international com­petitions because it’s more fulfilling when you’re winning medals for our country,” sabi ni Mojdeh. “For now, I’ll just enjoy this achievement with my pa­rents and coaches.

Si Mojdeh ay isa sa mga ginawaran ng Tony Sid­dayao award (citation for young achievers in the country) sa 2016 Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night noong Peb­rero.

Ito ang ikaanim na in­terna­tional competition na ni­lahukan ni Mojdeh sa ta­ong ito.

Kumuha ng gintong me­dalya ang Most Outstanding Swimmer awar­dee na si Mojdeh sa Tokyo Winter Swimming Championship sa Japan noong Pebrero, sa Indian Ocean All-Star Challenge sa Perth, Australia noong Marso, Stingray Invitational Swimming Championship sa Hong Kong noong Abril, sa SICC Swimming Cham­pionship sa Singapore no­ong Agosto at sa Buccaneer Swimming Championship sa Tokyo, Japan no­ong Oktubre.

“Jasmine is one of the products of the Philippine Swimming League’s grassroots development program and we’re happy that we’re seeing good re­sults of our program. We will continue exposing these, guide them and help them achieve their dreams of someday becoming an Olympian or a world champion,” ani PSL president Su­san Papa.

Sa Hamilton Aquatics Winter Long Course Swimming Championship ay ku­molekta ang PSL ng ka­buuang 21 gold, 15 silver at 13 bronze medals.

Nag-ambag din ng gintong medalya sina Triza Haileyana Tabamo ng Holy Spirit School-Tarlac (tatlong ginto, dalawang pilak at tatlong tanso), Albert Ser­monia II ng Diliman Pre­paratory School (tatlong ginto, dalawang pilak at da­lawang tanso), Jerard Do­minic Jacinto ng Univer­sity of the East (tatlong gin­to), Kyla Soguilon ng Sun Yat Sen School-Kalibo (dalawang ginto, limang pilak at isang tanso), at Rio Lorenzo Malapitan ng Divine Word College-Ca­lapan (isang ginto, isang pilak at dalawang tanso).

Ang iba pang kumuha ng medalya ay sina Sean Terence Zamora ng University of Santo Tomas (tatlong pilak at isang tanso), Sean Elijah Enero ng Mapua Ins­titute of Technology (isang pilak at isang tanso), Paul Christian King Cusing ng Diliman Preparatory School (isang pilak), Drew Benett Magbag ng University of the Philippines (dalawang tanso) at Jeffrey Michael Hirao ng College of Saint Be­nilde (isang tanso).
