Caloy Loyzaga pumanaw na

Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines – Sumakabilang buhay na ang Philippine basketball legend Carlos “Caloy” Loyzaga ngayong Miyerkules sa edad na 85.

Binawian ng buhay si Loyzaga sa cardiac arrest bandang alas-7 ng umaga sa Cardinal Santos Medical Center sa San Juan City.

Dalawang beses nakapaglaro sa Olympics ang 6-foot-3 all-around player, habang nadala rin niya ang Pilipinas sa Asian Games at FIBA Asia championships noong 50s at 60s.

Binansagang “Big Difference” ang Pinoy basketball legend na nakabilang pa sa Mythical team ng 1954 FIBA World Championships matapos masungkit ng Pinas ang bronze medal.

Hinawakan din niya ang University of Santo Tomas men's basketball sa collegiate league, U-Tex at Tanduay sa Philippine Basketball Association.

Tinaggap ni Loyzaga ang Philippine Sportswriters' Association Lifetime Achievement Award nitong 2014 at kinilala naman siyang  miyembro ng Philippine National Basketball Hall of Fame noong 1999.
