Pinoy paddlers sumagwan ng ginto sa Malaysia

MANILA, Philippines – Sumagwan ng isang ginto at isang pilak na medalya ang Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) Sinag-Perlas sa 2015 Penang Pesta Dragon Boat International Races na ginanap sa Teluk Behang Dan sa Pe­nang, Malasyia.

Nasungkit ng Pinoy paddlers ang kampeonato sa International Premier Women’s 100-meter Sprints Small Boat matapos magrehistro ng 32.17 segundo kung saan tinalo nito ang Macau Selection na nagsumite ng 32.46 segundo para sa pilak na medalya.

Nagkasya sa tanso ang Nanyang Technological University Dragon Boat Team ng Singapore na may naitalang 33.10 segundo.

Sumiguro rin ang PDBF Sinag-Perlas ng pilak sa Mixed 250m Small Boat sa naitalang tyempo na dalawang minuto at 27.89 segundo.

Naghari sa naturang event ang Singapore Institute Management na may 2:26.87 habang muling tumersera ang Nanyang Technological University Dragonboat Team na may nakayanang 2:29.86

Ayon kay team mentor Rhowie Enriquez, ang PDBF Sinag-Perlas ay binubuo ng mga paddlers mula sa iba’t ibang koponan--ang Philippine Blue Phoenix, Triton Dragon Boat Racing Team, One Piece Drakon Sangres, Onslaught Racing Dra­gons, Amateur Paddlers Philippines, Bruins: Racers of High Sea, University of the Philippines Alumni Crew, Maharlika Drakon at Pilipinas Wave Warriors.

Noong Agosto, humakot ng apat na gintong medalya ang PDBF sa pres­tihiyosong 2015 International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Racing Championships na gina­nap sa Welland International Flatwater Centre sa Welland, Ontario, Canada.
