Kobe lalaro na sa UCLA
MANILA, Philippines – Nasasabik ang pamunuan ng University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) sa paglalaro ni 6’6 Filipino basketball player Kobe Paras.
“We’re always looking for players who’ve grown up immersed in basketball, and Kobe definitely fits that mold,” wika ni UCLA coach Steve Alford sa website ng UCLA.
Ibinigay na ni Paras ang National Letters of Intent para tiyakin na mag-aaral siya sa UCLA Bruins sa 2016-17.
Bukod kay Paras, sina 6’10 Ike Anigbogu at 6’5 Lonzo Ball ay sa UCLA na rin mag-aaral at maglalaro.
Tinukoy ni Alford ang pagiging athletic ni Paras na magagamit nila lalo kapag open court ang laro.
“To add a talented player like Kobe to our program is terrific,” wika pa ni Alford. “He’s a very athletic guard who plays with tremendous energy. We like how he can attack off the dribble and get to the rim in the open court. We’re excited that he’ll be joining us in Westwood.”
Si Paras ay magtatapos ng high school sa Cathedral High School at naghatid siya ng 15 puntos average sa isang pre-season tournament.
Batak na sa laro ang 17-anyos na si Paras at lalo siyang nakilala nang kinuha ang slam dunk title sa 2013 at 2015 FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Championship.
Kasalukuyang naglalaro si Paras para sa Middlebrooks Academy Team.
