San Beda sinolo ang second spot
MANILA, Philippines – Humugot ng tibay ang San Beda Red Lions kay Micole Sorela sa endgame para kunin ng 83-81 panalo sa Perpetual Help Altas sa 91st NCAA men’s basketball kagabi sa The Arena sa San Juan City.
Naagaw ni Sorela ang masamang inbound pass ni Earl Scottie Thompson bago naipasok ang dalawang free throws para bigyan ang Red Lions ng 83-79 bentahe sa huling 5.3 segundo.
Nakahirit ng foul si Thompson kay Sorela habang pumupukol ng tres, pero ang huling dalawang free throws lamang ang kanyang naipasok.
Hindi na nagbigay ng foul ang Altas sa huling opensa ng Red Lions para masolo ang ikalawang puwesto sa 5-1 karta.
“We had a great third quarter and they played great fourth quarter but the good thing is that we were able to hang on. Both teams came prepared and unfortunately, only one team has to come out a winner,” wika ni Red Lions coach Jamike Jarin.
May 15 puntos at 10 rebounds at 4 assists si Sorela, habang sina Arthur dela Cruz at import Ola Adeogun ay may 25 at 11 points, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
Si Bright Akhuetie ay humakot ng 25 puntos, 16 rebounds at 6 steals, habang si Thompson ay may 20 puntos, 5 assists, 4 rebounds at 2 steals.
Tinalo naman ng Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers ang St. Benilde Blazers, 67-49, sa naunang laro.
