Paglalaro ni Douthit hindi tinutulan ng ibang bansa

INCHEON, Korea -- Sa isinagawang team managers meeting  kahapon ay walang tumutol sa ipinasang 12-manlalaro ng Pambansang koponan sa pangunguna ni naturalized center Marcus Douthit.

“The 12-man Gilas team, including Douthit had alrea­dy been approved in a letter of the Olympic Council of Asia singed by Mr. Farman and was validated during the DRM on September 11. So there was nothing to de­liberate upon,”  wika ni team manager Aboy Castro na ki­natawan ang Pilipinas sa naturang pulong.

Makakasama ni Douthit sina Jimmy Alapag na siyang tatayong team captain, LA Tenorio, Jeff Chan, Ja­red Dil­linger, Gary David, Ranidel De Ocampo, Gabe Nor­wood, June Mar Fajardo, Paul Dalistan (Paul Lee), Ja­peth Aguilar at Marc Pingris.

Maliban kina Dalistan at Dillinger, ang ibang manlalaro ang kumatawan sa bansa noong 2013 FIBA Asia Men’s Championship sa Pilipinas at tumapos sa pangalawang pu­westo sa Iran para makapasok sa FIBA World Cup.

Ang ikalawang naturalized player na si Andray Blatche ang ginamit sa World Cup at binalak na isama sa Asian Games pero hindi siya pinahintulutan ng OCA at IAGOC dahil sa three-year residency rule.

Masaya rin si businessman/sportsman at pangulo ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Manny V. Pa­ngilinan na naayos na ang naunang mga problema ng koponan.

“Technical meeting done! We will play with a 12-man roster including Marcus. Better chance. Let’s go for Gold! PUSO! Laban Pilipinas!” tweet ni Pangilinan.

Ang buong koponan ay inaasahang darating nga­yong gabi depende sa magiging takbo ng panahon sa Pi­lipinas na kasalukuyang sinasalanta ng bagyong ‘Mario’.
