Moreno katuwang ang ACCEL sa tagumpay sa Youth Olympic Games

MANILA, Philippines - Inangkin ni Filipino archer Luis Gabriel Moreno ang kauna-unahang Olympic gold medal ng Pilipinas sa nakaraang 2014 Youth Olympic Games sa Nanjing, China.

At ginawa ito ni Moreno kasama ang ACCEL, ang official outfitter ng Filipino athletes sa YOG.

“We’re happy about Moreno’s historical achievement. He truly made our country proud,’’ sabi ni Sporteum Philippines Inc. president Willie Ortiz, ang kumpanya ay nagmamay-ari ng popular sports apparel brand.

Nakipagtuwang si Moreno, isang Green Archers sa kanyang senior high school year sa La Salle-Greenhills, kay Li Jiaman ng China sa gold-medal match ng mixed international event.

Tinalo ng dalawa sina Muhamad Zarif Syahir Zolkepeli ng Malaysia at Cynthia Freywald ng Germany, 6-0, sa finals sa Fangshan Archery Field sa Nanjing.

“We really didn’t expect to win any medal, so I’m real­ly proud and I hope I become a symbol of inspiration to all Filipino athletes out there,’’ sabi ng 16-anyos na si Moreno.

Bago ang pag-angkin ni Moreno sa gold medal ay si boxer Mansueto ‘Onyok’’ Velasco Jr. muna ang hu­ling Pinoy na nag-uwi ng medalya mula sa Olympics sa kanyang silver finish noong 1996 Atlanta Games.

Ang iba pang Filipino athletes na sinusuportahan ng ACCEL ay sina triathlete Vicky Deldio, swimmer Ro­xanne Yu, shooter Celdon Jude Arellano, archer Bianca Gotuaco, gymnast Ava Lorein Verdeflor at Zion Rose Nelson ng track and field.
