'Jab lang katapat ni Pacquiao' - promoter

MANILA, Philippines – Simpleng suntok lamang ang magpapabagsak sa eight-division champion na si Manny Pacquiao, at ito ang jab, ayon sa promoter ni Chris Aligieri.

Kumpiyansa ang promoter na si Joe DeGuardia na mananaig ang kanyang bata laban kay Pacquiao sa paghaharap ng dalawa sa Nobyembre 23 sa Macau.

Tulad sa huling laban ni Algieri kay Ruslan Provodnikov, papasok ang Amerikanong boksingero bilang underdog, pero hindi ito inaalala ni DeGuardia.

“I took the Provodnikov fight for one reason and one reason alone – I knew that Chris stacked up pretty well against him and I also knew about the opportunity it provided,” wika ng promoter kay Bill Emes ng boxingscene.com.

“Well now for this particular fight [against Pacquiao], sure it pays good money. But the reality is I'm also taking this fight because of the opportunity it provides, and I like the way he stacks up against Manny.”

Tiyak nang makakapag-uwi ng $1.5 milyon si Algieri na hawak ang win-loss record na 20-0 na may walong knockouts.

“It's a great opportunity to for him. I feel comfortable putting him in the fight and I think he's going to win,” banggit ni DeGuardia.

Naniniwala ang promoter na simpleng suntok lamang ang magdadala ng panalo sa kanyang bata.

“A jab controls everything. A jab can equalize speed. A jab can equalize power. A jab is a very difficult tool and Chris has it. And sure that is probably the most vital aspect of the fight – the jab.”
