Caluag may pinatunayan

NAY PYI TAW--Bilang na­­tatanging Asian rider na nakalaro sa London Olympics, walang naniwala na hindi makukuha ni Daniel Caluag ang gintong medalya sa 27th SEA Games dito.

Hindi naman binigo ni Caluag ang mga umaasa sa kanya matapos pa­ngu­nahan ang men’s BMX cross kahapon sa Mount Pleasant cycling field.

Naorasan si Caluag ng 31.994 segundo para daigin ang kanyang na­kababatang kapatid na si Christopher na nalagay sa ikalawang puwesto sa 32.555 segundo. Ang Indo­nesian rider na si Bagus Saputra ang kumuha ng bronze medal sa 350-meter track sa 32.825.

“It was such an easy race. I had a fantiastic performance,” wika ng 26-an­yos na si Caluag.

Nakapaglaro siya sa London Games pero hindi siya nakapagbitbit ng medalya sa kompetisyon.

Dahil dito, nagbabalak si Caluag ng mas magandang laro para sa 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

“The ultimate goal is to make it back to the Olympics. Of course, there are some minor bumps along the way like the SEA Games and the Asian Ga­mes next year. My mis­sion is to overcome all those tournaments and be stronger for 2016,” dagdag nito.

Ito ang ikalawang gintong medalya sa cycling matapos manalo si Mark Galedo sa 50m Individual Time Trial.
