3 ginto sa Smart/Ph jins

MANILA, Philippines - Nagbunga ang pagpa­padala ng Philippine Taek­wondo Association ng panlaban sa 8th World Poomsae Championships sa Bali, Indonesia nang manalo ang bansa ng tatlong ginto, dalawang pilak at isang bronze medals para tumapos na pangatlo sa pangkalahatan.

Si two-time world champion Mikeala Calamba ay nagkampeon sa female individual freestyle habang nakitambal kina Jocel Lyn Ninobla at Rinna Babanta sa team (under 17) gold.

Nanumo sa kalalakihan si Jean Pierre Sabido na kampeon sa male under-29 division.

“It was a good finish for our athletes, more particularly Mikeala,” wika ni PTA  CEO Sung Chon Hong.

Si Calamba ay nanalo ng ginto sa huling World championships sa Tunja, Colombia.

Ang delegasyon ay su­portado ng Smart Communications Inc., MVP Sports Foundation, PLDT, TV5, Meralco at Philippine Sports Commission.

Ang iba pang SMART/PH team members na nanalo ng pilak ay sina Vidal Marvin Gabriel, Dustin Jacob Mella at Raphael Enrico Mella sa male team (u-29) habang sina Sabido, Ernesto Guzman Jr., Lava, Rani Ann Ortega at Ma. Carla Janice Lagman ay may tanso sa freestyle team event.

Ang Korea ang siyang nanalo ng overall title sa pitong ginto, anim na pilak at apat na bronze medals habang ang Vietnam ay may tatlong ginto, tatlong silver at tatlong bronze medals para pumangalawa.
