Boracay paddlers nagpasikat sa 2nd Sen. Drilon Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Nagpasikat ang mga paddlers mula Boracay nang manalo sila sa dalawang events sa 2nd Senator Franklin Drilon Dragon Boat Cup na nagtapos kahapon sa Iloilo River sa Iloilo City.

Ang Boracay All Stars/Sea Dragons at  Sea Dra­gons ang hinirang bilang kampeon sa 200-m men’s at mixed category para katampukan ang produktibong pagsali sa palarong pinamahalaan ng Philippine Canoe-Kayak Federation (PCKF).

Naorasan ang pinagsamang All Stars/Sea Dra­gons ng 1:04.07 tiyempo para manalo sa PDRT/Spitfire (1:08.30) at DLSU-UP team (1:10.99).

Gumawa naman ang All Stars ng 51.13 segundo tiyempo para hiyain ang Sea Dragons (54:53) at PDRT Fireblades (54.79) sa mixed category.

Hindi naman nagpahuli ang local team na Iloilo Transition  na kampeon sa 200-m novice division.

Si Senate President Franklin Drilon ang siyang nanguna sa paggawad ng mga premyo sa mga nanalo sa awarding ceremony.

“The main reason I organized this competition primarily to clean and rehabilitate the Iloilo River. The only way to restore the river to its original glory is through water sports like the Drilon Cup Dragon Boat as part of sports tourism,” ani  Drilon

Nakasama  niya sa se­remonya sina PSC chairman Ricardo Garcia, Chinese Ambassador Ma Ke­qing, Iloilo Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog at Congressman Jerry Trenas.

Nagbigay ang PSC ng P125,000, habang P20,000 at P10,000 naman ang ibinigay nina Milag­ros Drilon, asawa ni Sen. Drilon at Ambassador Ma.
