MANILA, Philippines - Babanderahan ni Southeast Games double bronze medalist Samantha Bermudez ang 22 pang Filipino riders na makikipagsabayan sa 2012 World Cable Wakeboard Championships na binuksan kahapon sa Deca Cable Wakeboard Park sa Clark, Angeles City, Pampanga.
Sa harap ng mga bigating wakeboarders, nangako ang 25-anyos na si Bermudez na gagawin ang lahat ng kanyang makakaya para makapagbigay ng medalya sa bansa sa nasabing six-day event na magtatampok sa 170 foreign bets mula sa 32 bansa.
Kalahok din sina world champions Nick Davies at Kirsteen Mitchell ng Great Britain at sina Tokyo Cup winners Angelika Shriber ng Austria at Frederic von Osten ng Germany.
“With the worlds being held here, the whole team will be more motivated to ride hard, represent the country well, do our best and you know, have fun,” ani Bermudez, nagtapos bilang No. 7 sa nakaraang World Cup sa Japan.
Nakatakdang sumabak ngayon si Bermudez sa qualifications ng open women’s category.
Nakasama ni Bermudez sa idinaos na pre-competition press conference kamakalawa sina International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation president Kuno Ritschard, council chairman Varna Laco, Wakeboard and Waterski Association of the Philippines president J.V. Borromeo, Deca Homes president J.J. Atencio at Department of Tourism director Ronnie Tiotuico.
