BAGO CITY, Philippines --Apat na hometown bets at tig-tatlo mula sa Tagbilaran at Northern Samar ang nanguna sa hanay ng 80 amateur boxers sa PLDT-ABAP Visayas Area Tournament sa Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Tinalo ni Lemwil Javines (50kgs) si Jude Ryan Daag, 15-7; binigo ni Raymard Flores (49 kgs) si Aljun Oro, 16-14 ng Sagay City; iginupo ni Mario Jaga (46 kgs) si Jeffrey Stella ng Mandaue City, 14-10; at pinahinto ni Argie Alabado (52 kgs) si Joseph Carino ng Dumaguete City (RSC/Rnd 1) para banderahan ang ratsada ng Bago City.
Nakakuha ng panalo ang Tagbilaran mula kay Orville King Olaivar (46 kgs) na gumiba kina Dumaguete bet Daryl Victorino, 10-5, habang tinakasan ni Kenneth Paul Gentallan (46kgs)si Bago City fighter Lemwil Javines, 13-12.
Pinigil naman ni Dick Espinola (46 kgs) ng North Samar si Cabatuan, Iloilo boxer Christian Mayo sa third round; pinulbos ni Paul Sacupon (46 kgs) si Wenfredo Victoriano, 31-10, ng Bago City; at pinigil ni Jusua Sambajon (52 kgs) si Himamaylan bet Gemson delos Santos sa first round.
“The ABAP grassroots development program took off with five gold medal wins in Taipei last month by young discoveries from our regional tournaments,” ani ABAP president Ricky Vargas.
