Pagcor, AFP open VLMC halfway house
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center recently opened the newly constructed dorm for patients’ watchers and caregivers at the V. Luna Medical Center (VLMC) in Quezon City.
The halfway house in the government hospital for active and retired soldiers was built with the help of a P53.22-million funding from PAGCOR.
The five-story dormitory features 35 rooms and 124 beds. It is equipped with a kitchen, dining areas, caregiver quarters and other amenities.
PAGCOR chairman and chief executive officer Alejandro Tengco led the inauguration of the VLMC halfway house on Jan. 24.
Tengco said the project is a demonstration of the state gaming agency’s support for the country’s armed personnel.
“This is not just a corporate social responsibility initiative for PAGCOR. It is a gesture of gratitude to our brave soldiers who selflessly dedicate their lives to serving our nation,” he said.
