Central Luzon to have 3 new bishops
MANILA, Philippines — Three Catholic bishops will be installed in separate dioceses in Central Luzon in the first quarter of the year.
Bishop Prudencio Andaya will be installed as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Cabanatuan on Feb. 3, according to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
Andaya is currently the apostolic vicar of Tabuk, which covers the provinces of Kalinga and Apayao.
Meanwhile, Bishop-elect Rufino Sescon Jr. will be installed head of the Diocese of Balanga in Bataan on March 1.
Before assuming the position, Sescon will be ordained as bishop by Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula on Feb. 25.
Sescon is currently the rector of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church.
Aside from Andaya and Sescon, Bishop Roberto Mallari will be installed as head of the Diocese of Tarlac on March 27.
Mallari currently heads the Diocese of San Jose in Nueva Ecija.
