MANILA, Philippines —  At least 132 foreigners were rounded up in a suspected illegal Philippine offshore gaming operator hub or scam farm in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and other government agencies found the foreigners when they raided the scam farm in a hotel past 2 p.m. yesterday.

NBI director Jaime Santiago said the rescue operation was conducted on the request of the Indonesian government.

Santiago said in a message on Viber that 81 of the foreigners are from Indonesia, 47 from China, three from Myanmar and one from Taiwan.

Apart from the NBI, representatives from the Bureau of Immigration, Inter-Agency Council and Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission were involved in the operation.

Santiago said immigration personnel are checking the documents of the people who were rounded up to determine who among them are victims.
