P3.5 milyong sibuyas nasabat sa South Harbor
Ayon sa BAI, ang mga sibuyas ay inangkat ng JRA and Pearl Enterprise, Inc lulan ng barkong Green Pacific at dumating sa Port of Manila noong Hulyo.

MANILA, Philippines — Nasabat ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng Bureau of Plant Industry ng Department of Agriculture (BAI-D) at ng Bureau of Customs ang isang 40-foot container van na naglalaman ng may P3.5 Milyong halaga ng dilaw na sibuyas mula China.

Ayon sa BAI, ang mga sibuyas ay inangkat ng JRA and Pearl Enterprise, Inc lulan ng barkong Green Pacific at dumating sa Port of Manila noong Hulyo.

Ayon sa BPI, ang importasyon ng sibuyas ay naganap  sa panahon na inutos ni Agriculture Secretary  Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. na  suspendihin ang issuance ang  permits para sa importasyon ng sibuyas.

Nang magsagawa ng pagbusisi sa kontrabando ang BPI-Plant Quaran­tine Service sa Manila’s South Harbor sa tulong ng BOC ay nadiskubre ang 25,000 kilos ng fresh yellow onion.

“We remain steadfast in our support to the newly signed Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act. We hope that these confiscations will serve as a warning to unscrupulous traders and companies that the DA and BPI are fully committed to cracking down on these illegal trade practices that endanger not only public health but undermine the livelihood of our farmers,” sabi ni BPI director Gerard Glen Panganiban.
