Bodega sa Cavite ni-raid ng DA, BOC
MANILA, Philippines — Tinatayang nasa P100 milyong halaga ng frozen meat at agri-commodities ang nasamsam sa isinagawang joint raid ng mga tauhan ng Food Safety Regulatory Agencies ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa isang warehouse na na-covert na cold storage facilities sa Kawit, Cavite, iniulat kahapon.
Ayon sa DA, nadiskubre sa nasabing bodega na inuupahan ng Vigour Global, ang may 10 cold storage facilities mula sa concealed false wall.
Nabatid na matapos sirain ang dingding ng warehouse, tumambad ang iba’t ibang uri ng frozen products gaya ng assorted meatballs, shabu-shabu items, beef and pork, chicken wings, siomai, assorted fish, pork belly, boneless pork, beef at peking ducks.
“This should serve as a stern warning to unscrupulous traders that we will not stop in going after these illicit activities. We want to ensure that our farmers are not disadvantaged by these unfair and often illegal trade practices,” pahayag ni Agrarian Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel.
Aabot sa 98,000 kilo ang nasamsam na items at may kasalukuyang market value na P100 million.
Base sa pagsusuri ng Bureau of Animal Industry at National Meat Inspection Service, hindi ligtas kainin ang mga nakumpiskang frozen food products na malinaw na paglabag sa Republic Act No. 10611, o Food Safety Act of 2013.
