Comelec junks DQ case vs Raffy Tulfo
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has affirmed its decision dismissing a disqualification complaint filed against Sen. Raffy Tulfo during the May 2022 elections.
In a nine-page resolution promulgated on Feb. 28 and released to media yesterday, the Comelec First Division denied the motion for reconsideration filed by Julieta Licup Pearson.
The Comelec said Pearson’s motion has no valid ground to warrant the reversal of the ruling.
The poll body said the petitioner merely rehashed the motion in the form of an amended petition.
The Comelec said it has no more jurisdiction over the disqualification case as Tulfo had been proclaimed and is serving as senator.
The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Senate Electoral Tribunal, according to Comelec Chairman George Garcia.
