Feuding politicians in two Bangsamoro provinces, embroiled in intense political rivalries, signed a covenant on Tuesday, March 18, committing to abide by the Omnibus Election Code.

The appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of a new chief minister for the Bangsamoro regional government did not violate the government’s peace compact with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, a senior state official said on Monday, March 17.

Sixth Infantry Division spokesperson Roden Orbon said that four of its personnel were wounded by the grenade attack carried out by unknown armed groups.

Three senior Bangsamoro officials, including the figurehead of the Moro National Liberation Front, welcomed the new chief minister and praised his predecessor for pioneering public service initiatives for the Muslim, Christian, and indigenous communities in the autonomous region.
