In 1973, Victor ‘Cocoy’ Laurel produced and starred in Love Song, with the beautiful Marianne de la Riva as leading lady. One of Manila’s Five Prettiest, Marianne made her acting debut in Love Song.
The late Zeneida ‘Bibot’ Amador directed Love Song, based on the story by Celia Diaz-Laurel and script by Maning Songco.
Cocoy still sings during special occasions and paints (portraits) on the side. Marianne is now based in the US, married to a Fil-Am doctor.
After Love Song, Marianne continued her acting career as leading lady to the likes of FPJ and Rudy Fernandez. She also topbilled with Ronald Corveau the remake of the soap Gulong ng Palad. Her marriage to Ronald ended in divorce.
Cocoy produced other films opposite Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos and Margie Moran. — RKC
