Impeach trial vs VP Sara pinapatigil sa SC
MANILA, Philippines — Hiniling ng isang grupo ng mga abogado sa Korte Suprema na ipatigil ang impeachment complaint na inihain laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Nabatid na naghain ng 114-pahinang petition for certiorari and prohibition sa Supreme Court (SC) sina Atty. Israelito Torreon, na tumatayo ring legal counsel ni Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy; Atty. Martin Delgra III, dating pinuno ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board; Atty. James Reserva; Atty. Hillary Olga Reserva, abogado ng Socorro Bayanihan Services Inc. leader na si Jey Rence Quilario.
Sa naturang petisyon ng mga naturang abogado na magpalabas ang Mataas na Hukuman ng temporary restraining order (TRO) upang hadlangan ang Senado sa pagdaraos ng impeachment trial.
Hiling pa nila sa SC, ipawalang-saysay o ideklarang ‘null and void’ ang Articles of Impeachment laban sa bise presidente dahil sa pagiging depektibo nito.
“We feel that the impeachment complaint is constitutionally deficient,” ayon kay Atty. Torreon, na isa sa mga naghain ng petisyon, sa isang ambush interview.
Dagdag pa niya, “It is a violation of pertinent constitutional provisions and it is likewise jurisdictionally void and the same should be dismissed and not entertained by the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines.”
