DepEd babawasan subjects ng SHS sa 6 o 5

MANILA, Philippines — Para mas makapag-pokus sa work immersion o on-the-job training, babawasan ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang subjects sa senior high school (SHS).

Binigyang-diin ni ­Education Secretary Sonny Angara na prayoridad ng DepEd na gawing simple ang SHS Curriculum at bawasan ang mga subjects sa lima o anim.

“So, we must have flexibility in our system. If we reduce the subjects of our SHS curriculum, the students will have more time for the on-the-job training or work immersion needed by the industry so that our senior high school graduates will become more employable even if they lack work experience,” pahayag ni Angara sa 2024 Regional Conference on Educational Planning in Asia

“So, we’re on the right direction to reduce the core subjects of our SHS curriculum to just five or six subjects,” aniya pa.

Noong Lunes, naki­pagpulong ang DepEd sa academic experts upang pabilisin ang mga pagsisikap sa pagrepaso at pag-streamline ng programa at subjects ng SHS.

Sa pulong sa mga consultant ng Asian Development Bank (ADB) ay hiniling ng DepEd ang rekomendasyon sa istruktura ng SHS curriculum sa content ng English, Science, at Math standards at curriculum guides.

Una nang iginiit ni Angara na masyado nang tambak ang basic education curriculum sa bansa, batay sa mga education experts ng ibang bansa.
