MANILA, Philippines — Kinumpirma ng Malakanyang na tinanggap na ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagbibitiw sa pwesto ni National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo.
Sa liham ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, na may petsang Oktubre 8, 2024 kay DILG Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, sinabi nito na tinanggap na ng Pangulo ang resignation ni Leonardo.
Matatandaan na naghain si Leonardo ng resignation matapos na mabanggit sa pagdinig ng House quad committee na nag-utos umano siya na patayin si PCSO board secretary Wesly Barayuga at tatlong Chinese drug convicts.
“This refers to the letter dated October 4, 2023 of Mr. Edilberto Dela Cruz Leonardo, tendering his resignation as Commssioner, Representing the Law Enforcement Sector, National police Commission, Department of the Interior and Local Government. On behalh of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., this is to inform you that his resignation has been accepted effective immediatel,” nakasaad pa sa liham ni Bersamin kay Remulla.
Ang NAPOLCOM ay nasa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng DILG.
Sa kabila nito wala pa namang inaanunsiyo ang Presidential Communications Office (PCO) kung sino ang kapalit sa pwesto ni Leonardo.
