MANILA, Philippines — Hindi umabot ng 10 minuto ang ginawang pag-apruba ng Senate Finance Subcommittee sa panukalang P10.5 bilyon budget ng Office of the President para sa 2025.
Humarap sa Finance Subcommittee na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Grace Poe si Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Ang panukalang budget ng tanggapan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para sa susunod na taon ay mas mababa ng 1.88% kaysa sa budget ngayong 2024.
Ipinunto ni Poe na ilan sa mga ehensiya na nasa ilalim ng Office of the President, katulad ng Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) ay nakatulong sa mga anti-crime initiatives, lalo na sa isyu ng mga ilegal na Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
“The President has created the new presidential office for child protection and I think it’s high time for that and many of us are very grateful to protect our children, the most vulnerable in society,” ani Poe.
Sinabi naman ni Bersamin na ang pagbabawas sa panukalang budget ay hindi makakaapekto sa paghahatid ng mga serbisyo ng Pangulo sa mga Pilipino.
Mabilis na naaprubahan ang panukalang budget ng OP dahil sa tinatawag na “parliamentary courtesy.”
