Cha-cha pag-usapan ‘tapos ng 2025 elections – Pimentel

MANILA, Philippines —  Iginiit ni Senate Mino­rity Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III nitong Biyernes na mas mabuting pag-isipan ang mga hakbang na naglalayong amyendahan ang 1987 Constitution pagkatapos ng 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

Sa virtual na panayam ng mga mamamahayag, muling iginiit ni Pimentel ang kanyang pagtutol sa Charter change (Cha-cha) sa gitna ng kontrobersyang bumabalot sa people’s initiative (PI).

“Ang feeling ko. [It is] better not to open this door or this box, because it might lead to unintended or unforeseen consequences... Under this context or given the situation, magdududa ka na sa lahat ng efforts to amend the Constitution at this moment because we are dealing with the same people, parehas lang ang tao na involved,” ani Pimentel.

Bagaman at bukas si Pimentel sa constitutional amendments, hindi aniya dapat ito mangyari sa kasakuluyang Kongreso at mga mambabatas.

Sakaling mahalal muli ang mga miyembro ng House of Representatives na lantarang sumuporta sa PI, sinabi ni Pimentel na dapat igalang ang mandato ng mga tao.

“If the members of the House of Representatives get reelected and especially when we use this as a political issue, ‘yung pag back-up nila sa people’s initiative, if that’s become a political issue during the campaign, and then they still reelected, then okay na ‘yon. Igalang natin ang bagong mandato ng mga tao,” ani Pimentel.

Nakikita rin ni Pimentel ang pinakabagong survey ng Pulse Asia kung saan ipinakita ang 88% ng mga Pilipino na laban sa pag-amyenda sa Konstitusyon.
