MANILA, Philippines — Hindi pabor si Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla sa panawagang bawiin na ng state prose­cutors ang natitirang kaso kaugnay sa iligal na droga ni dating Senator Leila De Lima, matapos na dalawa na sa isinampang drug case dito ang nadismis ng korte.

“Maganda ‘yan ang ‘di lang maganda dito mara­ming nagko-comment na may political motive kagaya ng Amnesty International. ‘Di naman natin kailangan pakinggan may sarili silang agenda na nakikialam sila sa bansa natin ‘di naman sila kaila­ngan dito,” dagdag pa niya.

Paliwanag niya, ang kaso ni De Lima ay dinat­nan na lamang niya at iginagalang niya ang pro­seso na kahit may acquittal na ay hindi naman ibig sabihin na wala talagang kasalanan, kundi inacquit kung hindi matibay ang ebidensya.

“Kaya may tinatawag na reasonable doubt, may pagdududa ang guilt nya kung puro o hindi. Basta kapag may reasonable doubt reason, to acquit ‘yan, pero ‘di nangangahulungang walang kasalanan talaga. ‘Yun talaga ang batas para fair,” paglilinaw ng kalihim.

“Ang sabi namin iwan nyo sa hustisya, sa judi­ciary. Ang judge na po may hawak nyan ‘di na po namin kontrolado ‘yan,” dagdag pa niya.

Mahalaga aniya, ang Department of Justice at depensa ay humaharap pareho sa judge, at ang judge ang magdedesisyon.

Independent aniya, ang judiciary at hindi naman appointed ni da­ting Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang magdedesisyon.
